Saints Claims Lead In The Sixth Inning To Defeat Gothenburg

Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-8 victory over Gothenburg on Friday. The game was tied at six with Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsitybatting in the bottom of the sixth when Kynlee Marquez homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.Both offenses were strong at the plate as Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity collected eight hits and Gothenburg five in the high-scoring affair.

Gothenburg opened up scoring in the first inning, when Avery Dunphy singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Marquez pitched Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity to victory. She went seven innings, allowing eight runs on five hits and striking out ten. Chloe Daharsh took the loss for Gothenburg. She went six innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits and striking out five. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity tallied one home run on the day. Marquez had a homer in the sixth inning.
