Tuesday, January 14th the Alma Cardinals played against High Line (a combines team of Elwood and Eustis Farnum). The Lady Cardinals lost 56 to 59. It was a close game in the 4th quarter but the Cardinals were not able to pull ahead.
In the First quarter, Sophomore Carlee Stuhmer scored 2 points. Senior Madison Schuller also scored 2 points. At the end of quarter 1, Alma had a score of 4 points. Alma struggles offensively put them down 10-4 at the end of one.
Into the Second quarter, C. Stuhmer shot a 3. Freshman Addison Neal shot a total of 8 points. M. Schuller scored 2 more. Freshman Katy Prickett also scored 2 points. Senior Abby Cervera scored 2 points and also 3 free throws. At the end of quarter 2, the Cardinals scored 20 points. Alma's offensive surge put them ahead 24-14 headed into half time.
3rd quarter, C. Stuhmer shot 5 points. A. Neal shot a 3. Sophomore Abbi Fox shot a total of 2 points. At the end of quarter 3, Alma had 10 more points. However Hi-Line outscored the Cardinals 13-10 this quarter, leaving the score 37-34 with the Cardinals trailing heading into the final period.
In quarter 4, A. Neal shot 8 points. M. Schuller shot 8 more points for us. A. Cervera shot 6 points. Giving us 22 points at the end of quarter 4. Each team was hitting offensively this quarter with each scoring 20 points, the Lady Cardinals were unable to overcome the 3 points deficit. The final score was 59-56 Hi-Line taking the win.
Abby Fox lead the team in rebounds with 8 and Abby Cervera had 6. Abby Cerevera lead in assists with 7 and Addison Neal leading in steals with 4. The Lady Cardinals are looking to rebound from that loss with Loomis this week and Conference the next week.
