Cardinals Fall Short Against Amherst

On August 28th the Alma Cardinals Football team traveled to Amherst. In the first quarter, Jesse
Tesmer from Amherst had a 7-yard run-scoring a touchdown with 9:25 left. With 5:20 left Kalon
Rohde from Amherst had a 1 yard run making the score 14-0 in favor of the Broncos. Elliott
Fletcher threw a 64-yard pass to Ryan Kermmoade scoring Alma’s first touchdown with 4:03
left. Amherst answered the Alma touchdown with another touchdown by Coleton Vara receiving
a 20-yard pass from Kalon Rohde. The score at the end of 1 was 21-6 Amherst.
In the second quarter, Quentyn Frank from Amherst had a 4-yard run-scoring a touchdown with
7:56 left. With 1:08 Nolan Eloe from Amherst had a 26-yard field goal making the score 6-31 in
favor of the Broncos. Quentyn Frank from Amherst had a 2 yard run with 0:00 left. The score at
the end of 2nd was 6-38 Amherst.
In the third quarter, there was a great defensive stand from both teams with neither teams
scoring. This left the score at 6-38 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Quentyn Frank from Amherst had a 10-yard run making the score 45-6 in
favor of the Broncos. River Eddy had a 2-yard run making Alma’s second touchdown with 0:00
left. The ending score for the game was 45-12 Amherst. The Cardinals couldn’t quite take down
the Broncos.
The Offensive Leaders were Elliott Fletcher with a 30-yard rush and 107-yard passing. Ryan
Kermmoade had 3 receptions- 67 yards. Gage Thulin had 4 receptions- 46 yards. The defensive
Leaders were Ayden Molzahn with 18 tackles. Jason Stenka had 12 tackles and 2 tackles for
loss. Alek Molzahn had 10 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Peyton Herrick had 1 interception.
