The Cardinals started out the 2019-2020 speech season with a successful competition at CNFL #2 in Grand Island on February 1st. The team, consisting of 11 members, took on various speaking events. The team had two events place. Novice speaker, Linden Biskup, took 5th place with her humorous prose and the varsity OID group consisting of Joel Brown, Linden Biskup, James Dubbs, Jonah Felix, and Haylee Wing placed 8th. Beyond medaling, events may earn superior ratings. The Cardinals were able to produce superior ratings in a duet performed by Karri Christensen and Delaney Seyler, humorous prose performed by Karri Christensen, poetry performed by Alexandria Moulton, poetry performed by Haylee Wing, and poetry performed by Torrance Tischner. The Cardinals are set to compete again at Gothenburg on February 8th. Plans for a local, public performance are in the works.
