Plan for Learning/Pick-Up Information

  • School, and all activities associated with school, including state testing, are cancelled until further notice. These activities include field trips, athletic practices and competitions, and fine arts activities and competitions at all levels.
  • There will be someone in the office, Monday through Thursday, from 9 AM to 3 PM to answer phone calls and check messages during the time of our closure. You can also email teachers with your questions at any time.
  • On Tuesday, March 24, and Wednesday, March 25, from 8 AM to 10 AM, we will be allowing students/parents to pick up education related items (computer, iPad, books, etc.) as we move to an online learning environment. A list of those students who have items to pick up is below this information. If these times do not work please contact the school during office hours to make other arrangements.
    • Anyone whose last name begins with A-D will pick up their items at the office (east) door.
    • Anyone whose last name begins with E-K will pick up their items at the Kindergarten (west) door.
    • Anyone whose last name begins with L-Q will pick up their items at the upper elementary (southwest) door.
    • Anyone whose last name begins with R-Z will pick up their items at the lower elementary (north) door.
  • As we move to an online learning environment, we want to make sure everyone understands the school’s expectations.
    • All assignments will be due each Friday beginning the week of March 30.
      • Anyone needing to drop off their assignments and/or pick up the next week’s packet of assignments can do so from 8 AM to 9 AM on Fridays, at the commons door. If this time frame does not work in your schedule please call the office to make other arrangements.
      • Secondary students will refer to Schoology and their email accounts for the respective course expectations for how to turn in their assignments. If they do not have internet access their teachers will provide paper/pencil work to be returned.
      • There are links on our website for PowerSchool, IXL, Schoology, Gmail, AR, and the library. If you click on the library link your student(s) can also ‘check out’ books online for free. There are six different resources for K-12 students to utilize for this purpose.
      • Any students who are having technology issues will need to email support@almacardinals.org. This account will be monitored and someone will get back to you as soon as possible to help.
  • Nutrition Services will be providing a Grab & Go breakfast and lunch for all Alma students and their siblings under age 18 needing meals during the time of our closure.
    • Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 9 AM
    • Form (website, app, Facebook, and Twitter) must be submitted or a call to the school (308-928-2131) must be made by 1 PM the day prior to pick up.
    • Meal pick-ups each day at the commons entrance. Deliveries will be made to specific locations as needed.
    • Meals will be free of charge to APS students and their siblings under the age of 18.
  • Any student needing individual counseling services can email Mrs. Biskup at brittney.biskup@almacardinals.org, and she will arrange a Zoom meeting to meet this need.
  • We ask that you continue to practice social distancing and that this is taken seriously. Please help us out by talking to your students about why we need to practice social distancing. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. We will continue to stay in contact with Two Rivers Health Department, NDE, DHHS, and other government leaders daily about how to proceed. We will follow the recommendations from these entities in order to make informed decisions on activity cancellations and school closure.
  • We will continue to communicate using the district’s SwiftReach (phone, text, emails) system as well as Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/almacardinalsorg/), Twitter (https://twitter.com/almacardinals), our webpage (https://www.almacardinals.org), and our school App. Further information, including any decision to cancel school, will be communicated through this system.
