Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 3-2 loss to Gothenburg on Saturday. Gothenburg took the lead on a groundout in the first inning. Gothenburg got things started in the first inning when Taysia Holbein grounded out, scoring one run. Chloe Daharsh got the win for Gothenburg. The fireballer surrendered one run on seven hits over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Hannah Devlin threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Emma Joppa took the loss for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. The righthander went five innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out two and walking one. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity tallied eight hits on the day. Abbi Fox, Brynn Bailey, and Kaylee Baker all had multiple hits for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Baker, Bailey, and Fox all had two hits to lead Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Gothenburg didn't commit a single error in the field. Madison Beachel had the most chances in the field with five.
