Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 4-2 loss to Gothenburg on Saturday. Gothenburg scored on a single by Taysia Holbein, a single by Chloe Daharsh, and a double by Ally Goad in the first inning. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity lost despite out-hitting Gothenburg seven to five. Daharsh was the winning pitcher for Gothenburg. The pitcher allowed six hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Hannah Devlin threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Emma Joppa took the loss for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Joppa surrendered four runs on five hits over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity tallied seven hits on the day. Natasha Hock and Kaylee Baker each racked up multiple hits for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Baker and Hock each managed two hits to lead Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Holbein went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Gothenburg in hits.
