Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-1 loss to Scottsbluff on Saturday. Scottsbluff scored on a single by Brady Laucomer, a groundout by Sasha Paez, and a single by Reagan Churchill in the first inning. The Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Scottsbluff, giving up ten runs. Scottsbluff opened up scoring in the first inning, when Laucomer singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Scottsbluff scored four runs in the third inning. Scottsbluff's big inning was driven by singles by Tatum Heimerman and Zoe Paez and a walk by Taryn Spady. Elizabeth Fuss was credited with the victory for Scottsbluff. The pitcher surrendered one run on one hit over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Angelica Anaya threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Emma Joppa took the loss for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. The righthander went three innings, allowing ten runs on eight hits and striking out four. Madison Zade and Brynn Bailey each collected one hit to lead Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Kaylee Baker had four chances in the field, the most on the team. Laucomer led Scottsbluff with three hits in three at bats.
